Experimental Study on the Sustainability Assessment of AWJ Machining of Ti-6Al-4V Using Glass Beads Abrasive Particles

Abrasive Waterjet Machining (AWJM) is considered a viable alternative to conventional machining processes, due its capability of rendering even complex features on parts with high productivity. However, it currently also important for manufacturing processes comply the various aspects sustainability, by putting emphasis environmental dimension apart from economic. Although AWJM generally an inherently environmentally friendly process, required that thorough experimental studies be carried out evaluate sustainability under conditions. In present work, experiments conditions were conducted Ti-6Al-4V workpiece in order determine optimal leading degree this process based several indicators. The using glass beads, which act as eco-friendly abrasive. After basic outcome experiment was analyzed correlations between parameters and depth penetration, kerf width, taper angle, analysis aid Grey Relational Analysis (GRA) conducted. optimum solution provided sufficiently score regarding both economic dimensions sustainability.
